Legal papers of the Eskridge and Gerard families, 1653-1735.

The papers contain indentures, deeds, bonds, powers of attorney, and patents concerning property in Westmoreland and Northumberland counties, Va. They include a judgment in settling an estate, a copy of John Gerard's will, a slave bill of sale, 1738, letters from William Hockaday to Thomas Gerard concerning the property of the families, 1659-1666, and papers rgarding a suit between George Ludlow and Thomas Gerard, 1667-1668. Document signers include Sir William Berkeley, Landon Carter, andRichard Lee.
